Retire in
North Cyprus
Northern Cyprus is a retirement haven for many British and European
expatriates. The majority of retireesin north cyprus come from the
UK and germany but there are growing communities of retirees from
mainland Europe as well who all recognize the benefits of retiring
to one of the most beautiful, accessible and desirable locations in
the world.
In North Cyprus the climate is conducive to good health, the cost of
living is low, the standard of living is high, property prices are
highly affordable and taxation is very low.
Temporary residence is granted for a year and must be reapplied for
annually for five years when permanent residency can be applied for.
With regard to moving personal effects to either North or South
Cyprus they are transported by sea in a container although a new
overland service is available to North Cyprus but it is expensive.
Domestic animals which are covered by the European PETS passport
scheme can move to South Cyprus with their owners but all animals
entering North Cyprus regardless of whether they are covered by the
PETS scheme have to be quarantined for up to 6 weeks (weeks not
months).
